I work full time as a nurse, and with my free time, I enjoy coaching swimming. I also have three kids of my own on the team. They have really enjoyed their experience with KYAT. I started swimming when with Murray Aquatic Club when I was 7 years old. I loved it so much that I continued swimming through high school. After graduation, I coached for Murray Aquatic Club, Murray High School, and Cedar High School. I enjoy working with the kids, watching them improve and reach their goals. I believe that swimming is a great way to teach children the necessary skills for life. They learn how to work hard for what they want, discipline, and how to work with others. One great thing about swimming is that it is truly a lifelong sport. I expect the kids to come ready to work. But, I also like to make sure we have fun, after all isn’t that why we go to the pool?
Anna started swimming for KYAT at 8 years old and is an alumni of Kearn High swimming and water polo, and also played water polo with the Women's University of Utah water polo team. She began teaching swimming when she was 16 years old (over 20 years ago!) and never stopped. She coached high school for 10 years, 9 of those at Jordan High School. Anna LOVES teaching the fundamentals of swimming. Outside of coaching, she is a busy mother of 3 kids, one of which is on KYAT.
Coach Mary began swimming with a Master swim team about 30 years ago. Between that, and watching her kids swim competitively, she has learned a lot about swimming. Mary enjoys teaching the kids all she has learned to improve. Mary is constantly looking for drills and tricks to help the kids improve their technique to swim better and faster. In her free time, she also runs and bikes to prepare for her many triathlon competitions.
